Yamaha Mechanical Control Boxes

What is a binnacle control box?

A binnacle control box is a top-mounted marine throttle and shift control used to operate an outboard engine from the helm. Many binnacle controls use a single lever to shift between forward, neutral, and reverse while also controlling throttle speed.

Yamaha binnacle controls may include integrated power trim and tilt, neutral safety protection, key switch compatibility, single-engine or twin-engine operation, and mechanical cable control depending on the model and rigging setup.

Before ordering a Yamaha mechanical control box, confirm whether your boat requires a top-mount or side-mount control, single or dual engine control, cable type, harness compatibility, and trim/tilt switch configuration.

Yamaha mechanical control boxes allow the user to operate the shift and throttle control with only one lever. To operate a mechanical control box, push the lever forward past neutral to shift the motor into gear. Then, simply push the lever farther to increase speed.

A mechanical control box is an essential component for controlling the speed and direction of your Yamaha outboard. Whether you're looking to upgrade your out-of-date mechanical outboard control box or replace a damaged one, Yamaha Online Parts has a wide selection in stock. Shop left and right-side flush-mount control boxes, twin and triple-engine control boxes, and more for your Yamaha outboard engine.
